UK forwarders likely to join the AEO community

UK forwarders are going to be flooding customs with applications for authorised economic operator (AEO) certification.

This, said customs, because the European Union’s Union Customs Code (UCC) will be launched next May, and offer far greater benefits to those of AEO status than the limited benefits from the present UK customs code.

Under the new UCC customs rules, a large number of exemptions and waivers are only available to companies with AEO status, according to the British International Freight Association (BIFA).
