Ray Smuts SHORT DEADLINES can be frustrating at the best of times, but independent freight forwarder South African Express Line rose to the occasion recently by dismantling a UK factory in record time and transporting it to Cape Town to meet the commissioning schedule. It was a highly satisfied SAEL team comprising project leader Keith Johnson, Andreas Barth and Vincent Stout who witnessed the R 6 million on-deck cargo being off-loaded from the MACS vessel, Purple Beach, in Cape Town's Duncan Dock. The dismantling team had only 16 days prior to the departure of the Purple Beach for the task at hand. Keith Johnson flew to the UK, set up an action plan together with agents TransGlobal Freight, and briefed all the relevant service providers before the speedy project commenced. Says Johnson: "The brief from Atlantis Forge at Atlantis near Cape Town amounted to a full turn-key operation, including dismantling the factory, packing, containerising specialised equipment and transporting."
