Two new STS cranes for DCT

The Durban Container Terminal (DCT) Pier 2 operated by Transnet Port Terminals [TPT] has taken delivery of two new-generation ship-to-shore (STS) Liebherr cranes to replace the two 20-year-old single-lift Noell cranes.

The new cranes have a twin-lift capability, a boom reach of 52 metres as well as a total operating height of 43m.

They can operate vessels of 18 boxes across deck, as well as 9 boxes above deck; which is in line with new larger vessels calling at DCT.
