Turning challenges into opportunities

At Chavda Freight nothing is too challenging. In fact, at Chavda challenges are considered to be opportunities in the making. According to Chavda Freight director Hannes Rust, the company offers a door-to-door service for consignments of any size . “Africa is our main business target. We provide customers with an integrated logistics service which includes imports and exports by air, sea and road; professional and industrial packing; customs clearance as well as warehousing and storage.” When it comes to Africa, Rust says the team at Chavda Freight consider themselves experts in overcoming the challenges that Africa presents. “We understand our customers’ personal needs and expectations and can therefore provide them with an innovative and cost-effective tailored solution.” According to Rust the mining and construction boom throughout Africa has increased air, sea and road freight volumes. “From our extensive list of African destinations, Angola has established itself as an important market for the company, currently generating a significant volume of business for us,” says Rust. “Among the biggest challenges in Africa are communication, capacity problems at West African ports, delays caused at border posts due to import duties and taxes not being paid on time as well as the poor state of the roads and the ever-increasing traffic congestion,” says Rust. “Waiting times for vessels to berth at the Port of Luanda for example have increased and can now take up to three weeks or even longer. The port itself is too small and needs modernising to deal with the yearon- year 20% increase in cargo over each of the past five years.” However, says Rust, good relationships and continued commitment make a difference. “Where there are challenges there are opportunities. That is our motto at Chavda Freight.”
