Wind, solar PV and
concentrated solar power
projects are the key focus of Calulo-
Röhlig Energy Logistics, a JV
between Calulo Renewable Energy
and Röhlig-Grindrod.
Hydro or biomass projects are
also areas of interest, said director
Andreas Kusza.
The rapid growth of urbanisation
and economic development in
South Africa has seen an increased
demand in alternative power,
said Kusza. “The Department
of Energy, through its White
Paper on Renewable Energy, has
committed to producing energy
from renewable energy sources in
response to the need for affordable
energy by developing communities,
especially those with no access to
energy and requiring energy for
human development,” he explained.
“The government’s Renewable
Energy Independent Power
Producer (REIPP) Procurement
Programme, which aims to have
6 725 megawatts of electricity
generated from renewable energy
sources for the national power
grid, is a platform on which
Calulo Renewable Energy believes
it has the potential and skills
to transform the South African
energy grid.”
The 51% black-owned and
managed company is a level 2 BEE
contributor and offers customised
end-to-end solutions in this
specialised sector.
