THE NINTH health care centre for truckers, established for the prevention of the spread of HIV/Aids, is due to open in Mooi River towards the end of the year. The new centre is expecting about 30 truck drivers and sex workers a night. The stops were established when former transport minister Mac Maharaj decided that the transport sector had to act as truck drivers were spreading the virus beyond the South African borders.
Operation Hotspot identified the spots where drivers were sleeping over and the Learning Clinic agreed to manage the projects.
