ROLAND RAATH, MD of SA’s Cargocare, has been elected chairman of the Certified Transport Network (CTN) - a global network of independent forwarding companies - for the next year.
It’s a professionally managed network, Raath told FTW, and differs from other such groupings in that it is a high end-value network offering members country exclusivity.
“In this,” he said, “the members - situated in 58 major cities of the world - enjoy buying power, a credit protection fund, minimum service level contracts and a speed of response that is unrivalled by any major logistics player.
“This all translates into high service levels.”
Just returned from the AGM in Como, Italy, Raath told FTW that the 67 delegates participated in bi-lateral talks and voted on important issues - like the new, integrated electronic data interchange (EDI) platform connecting consignees, suppliers and agents.
“This will eliminate duplication of information while offering greater transparency through track and trace and RFQs.”
