Trend to rentals

Why purchase when you can
rent?
This seems to be a growing
sentiment in South Africa
with more fleet owners
and managers looking at
operating rentals rather than
purchasing vehicles.
Derek van den Oever, a
sales manager for Truckcity
in Cape Town, an authorised
Iveco dealership, said this
was fast becoming one of the
biggest trends in the country.
“At present the biggest
challenge that we are facing
is the pricing levels of vehicles
and trailers. New vehicles,
due to the poor exchange
rates, have become expensive
and new parts are equally
affected. With a decline in
sales already being seen and
banks becoming stricter
with lending policies, the
automotive sector is in for a
tough few
months.
