Trade talks stall

AS THE two trans-Atlantic contestants snipe it out, it seems that efforts to save the current World Trade Organisation (WTO) global trade liberalisation talks have stalled in a welter of accusations from both sides of the ocean. The US and the European Union (EU) have accused each other of not doing enough on the issue of farm subsidies. The world’s developing and less-developed countries, including those in southern Africa, have meantime blamed these for throttling their agri-exports.
