MARIA O'Brien has joined Global Container Lines' southern African regional team in Johannesburg as assistant line representative southern Africa region. She joined GCL's South African agents, Freightmarine Shipping, two years ago and has been closely involved in all aspects of the operation. The exceptional growth of the South Africa, East Africa, Indian Ocean, Persian Gulf services and a positive response to GCL's upgraded service to Mozambique main ports has motivated the need for stronger representation, says regional line representative Doug Kennedy. O'Brien has notched up 15 years in the shipping industry, mainly in ship's agency.
