I ndia is Mozambique’s top export destination, followed by neighbour South Africa. In 2018 Mozambique shipped US$5.2 billion worth of goods around the globe. This represents a 9.2% growth since 2014, with an increase of 10.1% between 2017 and 2018. The top export destinations were India (27.8% of the global total), South Africa (19.2%), Netherlands (9.5%), China (5.8%), Singapore (5.8%), United Kingdom (4.1%), Italy (3.6%), Hong Kong (2.4%), Poland (2%), and the United States (1.9%). From a shipping perspective, nearly half (47.7%) of goods by value were exported to the East. European importers accounted for 26.3% of Mozambican exports, followed by fellow African nations at 23.3%.
