DANZAS has made some top level changes as it gears up for growth in sub-Saharan Africa.
Following the recent acquisition of the business and assets of three subsidiaries of Walford Meadows International in Zambia, Malawi and Zimbabwe (FTW June 16, 2000), Danzas will in future manage Africa as two separate regions - North and sub-Saharan. Management structures have been put in place to accommodate this new thinking.
A dedicated sub-Saharan regional office has been set up in Bedfordview headed up by previous managing director Daniella De Pauw who sees a positive challenge in her Southern African trade development portfolio. She highlighted that this would be a two-sided affair with concentration on both intra-African trade and overseas movements via the SA hub.
Talking about her development plans for the new group of companies in the overborder states, De Pauw told FTW that from IT systems to personnel training - Everything has to reflect the quality of Danzas.
With her team she will be responsible for the newly acquired companies and will be on the lookout for opportunities elsewhere in the region. From July 3 all Walford Meadows offices will take on the Danzas name.
Johannesburg is seen as the springboard into the region and will be developed as a distribution hub.
Ryk Jordaan, previously financial director, has been appointed managing director of Danzas, responsible for non sub-Saharan Africa business.
