Beira-based Specialized Transport
is investing in a growing fleet
of tippers as well as new facilities to
support infrastructure growth in the
north of the country.
The company now has 56 tippers
working on contract on projects
which include roads and the new rail
link through Malawi between Tete
and the coast, according to managing
director Chris Morris.
The company provides on-site
maintenance and repair support for
its tipper fleet.
“We have mechanics, workshops,
tyres and spares available round the
clock,” he says.
This is in addition to its fleet of
flatbeds for out-of-gauge cargo.
Restrictions on the bridges
leading out of Beira limit loads
through the port to 60 tons, but
Specialized Transport has handled
loads of up to 120 tons out of
Richards Bay.
In preparation for the growth
in the gas and oil industry to the
north the company has acquired
3.5 hectares of land in Nacala and
three hectares in Palma to establish
depots and workshops.
