The next growth frontier

It may be slow going but
Africa and the Middle East
are forging stronger ties and
growing trade.
Speaking at a recent
conference in Cape Town,
Frontier Advisory director
Hannah Edinger said the
emerging Africa-Arabia
economy made sense.
For the past few years,
however, the focus has been on
the continent’s growing trade
with China. The magnitude of
the trade relationship between
Africa and China has for the
most part overshadowed any
growth with other regions.
“Total exports from several
African countries to the Middle
East and select Asian countries
now sit at $7.6 billion dollars,
while total exports to select
East African countries from the
Middle East and select Asian
countries stand at
$32.3 billion,” she said.
