Transnet Freight Rail (TFR)
is increasingly looking at the
supply chain from end-toend
as part of a strategy to
lower the country’s logistics
costs and create a better road
and rail balance.
“Moving forward, our
extensive capital investment is
focused on how we can unlock
regional corridors and where
we need to invest to achieve
our objectives,” said TFR chief
executive Siyabonga Gama.
To that end, TFR is looking
at an integrated value chain
approach with investment in
both rail and port facilities
and infrastructure.
He noted that bimodalism
was gaining momentum
globally, as was the
development of multi-modal
freight parks.
“TFR will be seeking
increased partnerships
with freight logistics service
providers to provide an
integrated intermodal
solution,” he said.
