MBABANE – Swaziland's
2017 budget has called
for more resources to be
strategically channelled
towards infrastructure that
is necessary for increasing
the country’s economic
output.
R2 billion has been
allocated in 2017/18 to
implement the country’s
road expansion agenda.
Over the medium term,
government would upgrade
all the country’s 254 km
of main roads, pave all
district roads that are used
by more than 250 vehicles
daily and upgrade 290
km of paved road, finance
minister Martin Dlamini
announced. 160 km of rural
roads will be upgraded using
soil stabilisation chemicals
to reduce erosion that
undermines roadbeds.
