SWAZILAND HAS just become the 35th country in sub-Saharan Africa to be designated as a
beneficiary under the
US African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA).
On January 18 the relevant US authorities announced that Swaziland had become eligible for the trade preferences contained in the act.
This allows Swaziland duty- and quota-free imports into the US
market of a list of goods in the generalised system of preferences (GSP). These goods must comply with strict conditions on rules of origin.
