New regulations on the removal of bonded goods have laid strict limits on cargo owners’ freedom to choose a transporter, according to customs and trade consultants Deloites. “Owners of goods stored in bonded warehouses or similar customs and excise manufacturing or storage warehouses must ensure that they are familiar with the requirements of moving any such good while still under customs control,” explains Deloites. What must be remember is that only cartage contractors or cartage service providers that are licensed as a “remover in bond” are permitted to move or carry bonded goods - including transport from one band warehouse to another. Foreign hauliers are only allowed to move bonded goods out of the country as exports by road.
