Still BIG players in mining

Despite the global
commodities crunch, the Far
East, and China in particular,
are still keen players in the
mining industry.
That’s according to Andrew
Shaw, an associate director
at§PWC, who believes that
China’s investment in Africa is
far from over.
“Chinese miners are
diversifying their commodity
strategies to ensure they are
in a stronger position when
heading into the next cycle,”
he said.
China is currently the
fourth largest foreign investor
on the continent and is
intending to increase this
further.
