Bollore Africa Logistics’
recently appointed regional
managing director for
Southern and Eastern
Africa, Tony Stenning, has
a simple mission – to invest
in and grow the company’s
business in South Africa
and to take advantage of the
many opportunities in the
region.
Stenning brings to
the position 28 years of
experience, mainly in East
Africa and primarily in
Kenya where he has been
responsible for the whole
of the East African region
since 2003.
His responsibilities have
now been extended to
include both South and East
Africa, encompassing 19
different countries – and
his appointment coincides
with the rebranding of the
company which will be
known as Bollore Africa
Logistics in most of the
region
“My priorities –
apart from expansion
in South Africa – will
be Mozambique where
many opportunities exist,
Tanzania, Kenya and the
Great Lakes region which
includes Uganda,” he told
FTW.
In South Africa,
SDV has already made
significant investments –
the acquisition of SAEL
and transport company
Whitehorse among them
– but there’s more on the
cards.
“We intend to grow
our already substantial
warehousing capacity
country-wide and to elevate
our BEE profile.
“Bollore Africa runs
ports and railways and
employs some 35 000
people worldwide. Globally
Bollore Logistics is rated
among the top 10 while
Bollore Africa Logistics is
the first integrated logistics
network in Africa.
“People don’t realise the
extent of our business in
Africa and this is a message
we intend to drive home,”
he said.
