Solwezi in Zambia, bordering the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), has been described as the “one to watch” for trade growth in Africa. DHL Express in Zambia has witnessed a rise in shipments to and from the area. South African retailer Fruit & Veg City indicated it saw potential for wholesale outlets on the border between Zambia and the DRC that would focus on selling food products in bulk to traders. First Quantum Minerals is developing additional copper and nickel projects in the region. The Zambian government has subcontracted China Geo Corporation through the Road Development Agency (RDA) to rehabilitate the Chingola- Solwezi Road, following President Michael Sata’s sentiments over the bad state of the road.
