A joint 18-month undercover investigation led to the arrest of six people for alleged corruption at a driving licence centre in Limpopo on Tuesday.
The sting, conducted by the Road Traffic Management Corporation’s (RTMC) National Traffic Anti-corruption Unit and the Hawks, identified and then arrested three driving licence examiners and three civilians for corruption - and the testing centre they operated out of in Nkowankowa was closed down.
“It is alleged that the civilians acted as middlemen who facilitated the payment of bribes between licence applicants and examiners,” said RTMC spokesperson Simon Zwane.
