SIGNS OF RECOVERY IN ZIMBABWE

An International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission to Zimbabwe says there are signs of recovery in the country’s economy. “The mission welcomes Zimbabwe’s decision to start working with the international financial institutions to prepare a plan for clearing the outstanding arrears as a step toward resolving the country’s debt challenge,” Domenico Fanizza, leader of the IMF mission, said. Reforms and the decision by the authorities to return to the international community “have started to lay the ground for more inclusive and lasting economic growth. “It is encouraging that the authorities have come to the conclusion that Zimbabwe cannot address these challenges without the support of the international financial community,” says Fanizza.
