ShipShape plans January launch for new EDI development

HOT ON the heels of the recent launch of its windows-based exports module, logistics software provider ShipShape has a further development in the pipeline. Work is currently underway to provide full EDI capability for its CCA1/SAD500 system, which is due for completion by the end of January next year. “Since the early days when we pioneered EDI communications with Customs in 1999, we have been constantly developing and experimenting with new trends and technologies in order to deliver a better service to our customers,” ShipShape’s J-L Koekemoer told FTW. “We were one of the first successful companies to implement seafreight MAS via EDI.” Keeping abreast of industry developments is crucial, says Koekemoer, and the company keeps ahead of its game by attending all monthly e-commerce working groups. “This way clients are assured that we’re always in touch with the latest happenings in the industry, which at times take place rather unexpectedly.” Recent refinements to its in-house system enable support staff to attend to customer queries more efficiently, at the same time enhancing the tracing and management of EDI messages, he added.
