Sars ruling forces MAS compliance

SA Revenue Service (Sars) has issued a notice putting an end to the acceptance of dummy codes for the MAS and customs automated processing of entries (CAPE) systems from November 1. ÒSars cited that more than two years have lapsed since the introduction of these dummy codes,Ó FTW was told, Òand cargo transporters and carriers have, in their view, had more than sufficient time to complete their MAS registrations.Ó If you have not completed this process, it is something that requires urgent attention if you are to stay in business, says trade consultant, Deloitte.
