THERE ARE four main errors that account for 75% of Customs’ rejections, according to the latest refund error list published by SA Revenue Service last month. The list is published in an attempt to mitigate the high rejection rate of refund applications. These include valuation, documentation, completion errors and proof of exports. “Refund applications must be accurately completed as rejections resulting from such errors have a direct impact on the prescription period governing refunds,” a Sars spokesman said.
