SOUTH AFRICAN Port Operations (SAPO) in Port Elizabeth has given R10 000 to a local home caring for Aids orphans. The donation formed part of the PE launch of SAPO's Lifestyle Management Programme. The programme will benefit all employees through the provision of medication, counselling, and blood testing. There is a limit of R1200.00 per month per employee for anti-retroviral treatment, according to Nosipho Damasane, acting general manager Eastern Cape. The ports have been identified as one of the high-risk areas of infections, she says. "We believe, as South African Port Operations, that we should go out there and contribute to the environment that we are operating in. By so doing we will be showing our commitment to the well being of children, as a corporate citizen." The Nobubele Hospitality Home, which received the donation of R10 000, cares for children whose parents have died of HIV/Aids related causes and whose families are not able to look after them.
