Former management and IMM to begin from July 1
THE NEW owners of the Safto (SA Foreign Trade Organisation) export training courses have been announced by the IDC (International Development Corporation).
Taking over the presentation and teaching of the courses from a proposed July 1 start will be a joint-venture. This between the former management of the Institute of Exports (IEX) - formerly Safto's training subsidiary, but continued as a separate entity after Safto's close-down - and the IMM (Institute of Marketing Management).
The new IEX management team will be a blend of the current management of both institutes.
According to Victor Muhlberg of IEX, the three year correspondence course in exports and the range of export related courses will be officially transferred from Safto/IDC to the new training venture by the end of this month.
"The joint-venture must now be structured, and the intellectual rights to the training courses transferred," he said. "But - with a July start to training - we will lose no continuity, as June is the traditionally quiet month of the trainng year."
The IMM's established network of offices - Johannesburg, Durban, Cape Town and Harare - will give the IEX added visibility regionally, Muhlberg added.
"We shall also be applying for re-accreditation with the IATTO (International Association of Trade Training Organisations)," he said. "This will also be supported by the IMM's network of international affiliations."
