Rhenus has introduced an alternative overland corridor via Jordan for cargo moving between Europe, Türkiye and Gulf markets, giving shippers another routing option as disruption continues to affect traditional Europe-Middle East logistics routes.
The corridor connects Türkiye and Europe with Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman. Key destinations include Riyadh, Dammam, Jebel Ali and Abu Dhabi.
The service combines road and multimodal transport, giving freight forwarders and shippers an alternative to conventional sea freight and direct road routes where geopolitical and operational constraints are affecting supply-chain reliability.
Rhenus said it had handled more than 10 full truckload shipments through the corridor within its first month of operation, moving more than 190 000kg of cargo.
Transit times are estimated at 10 to 13 days from Türkiye and 19 to 22 days from Europe, depending on border conditions and operating constraints.
The corridor supports tautliner trucks with capacity of up to 24 tonnes and reefer trucks with capacity of up to 23 tonnes, allowing for both general cargo and temperature-controlled shipments.
The service is being coordinated by Rhenus teams in Germany, Italy, Türkiye and the UAE. It could also be combined with air or ocean freight services through the company’s wider network, the company said.
“Customers are increasingly looking for reliable alternatives as traditional routes face growing pressure,” said Habeeb Kunhipurayil, Regional Manager Air & Ocean – Middle East at Rhenus. “By establishing this corridor, we are able to offer a stable and scalable solution that keeps goods moving between Europe and the Middle East, even under challenging conditions.”
