Safety project to be rolled out in Kenya

Cargo security remains a massive priority for Iata, CEO Tony Tyler said last week. “Because it is impossible to inspect all cargo at its arrival at the airport, one needs to secure the entire supply chain to ensure the safe transportation of freight,” he said. “Our Secure Freight Programme continues to gain traction and we are working with regulators across the world to ensure cargo is kept secure from the start of production until the final destination.” He said Iata had, through this programme, introduced a cargo safety project piloted in Malaysia where it was found to be highly effective. “We are now looking at rolling it out in Kenya.”
