Saf ramps up efficiency

Safmarine Durban in focusing on several productivity improvements to ramp up efficiency at the port of Durban. “The first,” says Natal regional manager Roy Ramdiyal, “is how we can work with the port of Durban to improve stowage planning and maximise productivity for the vessels while working with our customers to move ‘overstay’ containers out of the port as soon as possible. A key enabler of this is our website, where customers can track their containers. “The other priority is improving our documentation processes, particularly invoicing.” According to Safmarine’s customer services manager, Junaid Kathrada: “Registered users of www.safmarine.com can now retrieve and view their invoices and statements online and in real time. This is because invoicing information available on the Safmarine website is sourced directly from our internal systems, which means that as soon as an invoice is available internally, it is also accessible to our customers.” CAPTION Roy Ramdiyal ... maximising vessel productivity.
