SOUTH AFRICA’S growing textile export industry is big business for SAA Cargo.
The airline is flying several hundred tons a month to the US, according to route manager, Asia Pacific and Americas, Ann Sanders.
“The flight to Atlanta is dedicated to textile exports which range from sweaters, T-shirts, sportswear, denims and lingerie to babies’ clothing and men’s and ladies’ casual wear,” she said.
The clothing is cut, sewn, and packed in Lesotho, Swaziland, KwaZulu Natal, Madagascar, Mauritius, Botswana and Namibia.
SAA Cargo will increase its flights to JFK to daily from January 7, 2003.
