New Beitbridge truck stop opens

BBCA becomes first
agent on site
A NEW facility for truckers - Gateway Truck Park - has opened at Beitbridge Border Post some 600 metres from the Customs gate.
The park was developed to stop trucks parking along the verges of the N1 at the border post while drivers are waiting for northbound release.
Trucks will in future not be allowed to park alongside or on the road while awaiting clearance. They will instead have to make use of one of the truck parks.
Gateway offers free parking for day-stops. Overnight facilities are available for a fee.
Drivers’ ablutions and a snack shop have been provided, and when building is complete, diesel will be on sale in the park where a new office block has been built to service the trucks.
Beitbridge Border Clearing Agency has become the first clearing agent to set up an office in the new block, where the entire exports division is now housed under the control of Cathrine Singo.
“It will be much easier for drivers to call at this office than face the long, hot, dustry trudge to the original agent’s building,” said BBCA m.d. Brian Kalshoven.
