EXPORTS OF locally-produced vehicles have increased by 20% in the first 10 months of this year compared with the same period last year, according to National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of SA (Naamsa).
In its latest report Naamsa says that despite the slowdown in the global economy, car exports increased by 20,8% to 96 872 units.
The export of light commercial vehicles moved higher by 12,8% to 9 682. Exports of medium and heavy commercial vehicles increased by 26,7% to 455 units in the first 10 months of this year.
In addition, total vehicles exported in October were 11 451, or 13% higher than the 10 133 exported in September, says Naamsa director Nico Vermeulen.
