Rotterdam strike could be over by March

Negotiations around the ongoing strikes at the Port of Rotterdam could be finalised by March.

Niek Stam, secretary to the dockworkers’ union, FNV Havens, was quoted by Maritime News as saying in an interview that the final deal should contain a solution for everybody, including Rotterdam port services workers. Further negotiations were held earlier this week to explore possible solutions.

According to the union, as many as 800 jobs could be lost at the port in 2017 due to two fully automated container terminals.
