Road feeders add capacity

CLIVE EMDON SMOOTH TRANSIT, quick turnaround and excellent connections are the ingredients of a successful and efficient cargo hub, says Patrick Moore, manager of operations for Gulf Air general sales agent, Aviation GSA. “With Gulf Air’s strategically located hubs in Bahrain and Muscat, the airline has consolidated its service and transit capability in the Middle East,” he said. “Containerised cargo destined for Kuwait, for example, can be processed and on board the connecting flight from Bahrain within an hour.” The airline offers more than 1 000 flights a week to and from the Gulf, with newly established road feeder services providing much needed additional capacity in the region. These complement its established road feeder services connecting major European gateways. “The convenient timings result in seamless connections, with transhipment times as low as 3 hours, and full track and trace capability through to final destination,” he said. The airline is planning expansion into new and prospective markets for specialised movement of cargo while dedicated freighters for cargo operations are also on the drawing board.
