Recent reports show
a global increase in
cybercrime, with South
Africa reportedly being
the most targeted country
in the world, says Michael
Henning, general manager
of Easyclear.
He comments that an
increase in cybercrime
means that logistics
companies should invest in
more resources to protect
themselves with good
software and safe computer
practices.
Through a
combination
of their own
technology and
their clients’
IT security
infrastructure,
Easyclear aims
to reduce the
risk of
cybercrime.
Henning
suggests that
the best
technological defence
against cybercrime is
improved antivirus
software but he says it is
more important to make
staff aware of phishing
activities and password
protection. “Strong
password protection needs
to be emphasised and
staff need to change their
passwords regularly, both
at work and at home,” he
says.
Keeping up with
technological trends in
software development
will also help logistics
companies
improve
operations across
their supply chain,
says Henning.
“Staying up to
date with trends
in technology
will enhance
operational
processes, improve
cargo management
and reduce costs,”
he says.
