ROAD TRANSPORT between Namibia and the northern Cape will be severely affected for the next six months while urgent repair work is undertaken to the bridge at Vioolsdrif border post.
One lane will remain open but no vehicles exceeding 8 tons or 2,6m width will be granted access.
Heavier and wider vehicles will be required to detour via Upington. To ease possible congestion Namibian transport authorities are calling on road operators to make greater use of the Trans Kalahari Highway to Gauteng.
