AN OPERATIONAL and management reshuffle is taking place at SA Marine Corporation, the former Safren-owned bulk shipping operation taken over recently by the Greek Restis family company, Enterprise Shipping and Trading.
The ship management is officially in Athens now, while the superintendary function still rests in Cape Town, said Jan Rabie, former head of the company, but now having moved over to make way for Victor Restis to take-over as chief executive. I am still retaining my association with the Restis family, Rabie added, but not on a day-to-day operational basis.
Basically, the Cape Town office now handles operations and scheduling, crewing of the vessels and logistics, Rabie told FTW. Overall operational strategy, technical maintenance of the vessels and ship's victualling is all now under the control of EST in Athens, he said.
