PPECB plans new tariff policy

Road-show will inform industry RAY SMUTS KEEPING ABREAST of international trends in the fiercely competitive business of fruit exports has underscored the resolve of the Perishable Products Export Control Board - ‘watch dog’ of South Africa’s quality standards - to look at itself anew. A new organisational structure was approved, effective July 1, to create a service culture and build closer relationships with stakeholders. The PPECB also says it intends introducing a new tariff policy during the next tariff review in October, necessitated by an in-depth investigation into current tariff structuring. Information on organisational changes and the PPECB’s vision of the road ahead will be imparted to industry and clients by chairman and chief executive Neels Hubinger during a ‘road show’ in September/ October.
