Pass the pasta …

Last Friday saw the launch by
GWK – a farmer-owned South
African agribusiness – of its
new R400-million wheat
mill, pasta plant and biscuit
factory at Modder River in the
Northern Cape.
The Westra Wheat Mills
factory, operated by GWK
Farm Foods, is the first
producer of food-related fastmoving
consumer goods in the
Northern Cape.
GWK managing director,
Pieter Spies said GWK Farm
Foods – a subsidiary of GWK
– would initially produce
wheat flour, pasta and biscuits
under the new Nature’s
Farms brand in addition to
its already established maize
meal products.
