Panama Canal preferred route

The Panama Canal is the preferred route for vessels on the Asia-East Coast North America (A-ECNA) trade lane, according to Drewry.

It beats the Suez Canal or via-the-Cape routes because of the shorter distance/time factor.

The members of the proposed Ocean Alliance and THE Alliance groups, for example, have revealed their plans for the A-ECNA run – with 12 weekly services planned for the Panama Canal route over four for the Suez Canal.
