ADEQUATE PACKAGING is always vital, but even more so when moving goods into Africa.
“In Africa you’re dealing with third world standards which means there are generally no forklifts, very rarely are there offloading facilities and this more often than not translates into rough handling both at the airports and harbours,” says Tuskers Packaging managing director Reinhardt van der Westhuizen.
Catering specifically for the manufacturing, engineering, forwarding and storage industries, the company provides a comprehensive service portfolio. This includes manufacturing for specific packaging needs, standard shrink-wrapping onto pallets, and specialised packaging for heavy duty machines weighing 30 tons and more.
With two years experience in the industry, Van der Westhuizen saw an opportunity in the market and launched the Gauteng-based company with two partners in January this year.
“And we haven’t looked back,” he told FTW.
“We also provide packaging materials and specialised container packing, where the majority of goods are destined for Africa.”
Five months of sustained growth have prompted thoughts of future expansion, with Durban and Cape Town future possibilities, he said.
