A new ‘one-seal’ system that has simplified and improved bulk tanker sealing for cement producer PPC has also brought the added benefit of increased security, according to André Hoffmann, packaging and logistics manager at PPC’s Hercules Factory in Gauteng. After the move from transporting cement in bags to the bulk format, one of the problems has been the need to seal tanker hoses for security purposes, Hoffman explained. Until recently, the major cement manufacturer, PPC, used a seal consisting of two separate components – steel wire plus a locking device. But, doing away with the need for a two-part sealing system, the company now uses Aluvin’s Secur-Pull seal. This one-seal system is built on the Aluvin Secur- Pull tamper-evident security seal, and has simplified and improved the company’s bulk tanker sealing, bringing benefits to both PPC and its customers, he added. “The polypropylene pullthrough seal is quick for us to put on the tanker and is simpler for the customer to break, which speeds up the process at their end,” he said. “The simplicity and ease-of-use has made the whole operation more efficient and more costeffective. It has also brought increased security, because it is impossible to by-pass the security latch on the coupling.” Aluvin – with its head office and factory in Germiston, and distribution centres in Durban and Cape Town – is the sole distributor in southern Africa for some of the largest security sealing companies in the world, and has a wide range of sealing products.
One-seal system cements it for PPC
