Global partnerships are a
vital ingredient in success
for independent operators,
and the right choice of
partner is essential for
a business to function
optimally, according to
André De Oliveira, CEO of
Thrutainers International.
Following this
philosophy, the company
has just entered into five
new partnerships. And,
De Oliveira added, all
five – Belgium’s Seacon,
Brazil’s Craft Multimodal,
Globelink Fallow in the
UK, CaroTrans in the
US and Cleve & Zonen
in the Netherlands –
have “impressive track
records”. These are added
to Thrutainers’ existing
alliances with Fair Trade in
Germany and International
Forwarding SL (IFS) in
Spain.
Leveraging off a major
network of what he termed
“local heroes” has its
advantages, De Oliveira
told FTW.
“While retaining the
autonomy to provide our
customers with costeffective
and reliable
services, our new partners
further strengthen
our product offering
through aligned business
philosophies. Our intent
is to develop visible and
accountable strategic
relationships with partners
who promote our business
ethos.”
The non-vessel operating
common carrier (NVOCC),
founded by the De Oliveira
family in 1978, has also just
added experienced muscle
to its executive team. It has
appointed Debbie Caires
as chief operations officer,
effective this month.
Caires joins Thrutainers
after 17 years with what
was originally Safcor
Freight, then became
Safcor Panalpina and
finally Bidvest Panalpina
Logistics. Her most recent
position there was as GM
for Kwa Zulu Natal.
