Not allowing any obstacle to get in his way

Literacy is something that is easily taken for granted.

But for someone like Nimrod Maseko, a truck driver working for Maphanga Logistics in Mpumalanga, it’s a daily struggle.

He won’t be put to the sword though by his battle to wield a pen.

This is what his employer has to say of one of the five finalists in the #ThankYouTrucker competition:

“Nimrod is the eldest amongst the group of truck drivers in our employ.

“Despite being illiterate, he always strives to fulfil all daily compliance requirements, such as completing his daily trip-sheet, his pre-inspection sheets, and all related paperwork - without fail.

“He is an asset that makes logistics such a seamless function within the supply chain. This year he has already been selected as our driver of the month - twice!”

Nimrod is the fourth finalist featured this week in the competition initiated by Iveco SA and the Road Freight Association.

Freight News has already profiled Audrey Chiloane of Zosi Group (Gauteng), Ayanda Mvelase of Crossroads Distribution (KwaZulu-Natal), and Chris Smit of DRK Logistics (Gauteng).

Last, but certainly not least, will be Matthew Moonsamy of Imperial Contract Logistics (KwaZulu-Natal) tomorrow.
