After 13 years in senior positions at Transnet Port Terminals (TPT), Nosipho Damasane, chief operating officer (COO) in the bulk, breakbulk and ro-ro sector of TPT in Durban, has resigned. She is moving into the private sector to further her career. But Transnet’s loss will be the private sector’s gain, according to members of the freight industry. As Dave Watts, maritime adviser to the SA Association of Freight Forwarders (Saaff), said: “She was well liked, and very much respected by everyone she dealt with.” However, from FTW’s viewpoint, we will unfortunately be losing a valuable contact in TPT. Damasane was one of the few people who didn’t hold back from sharing her thoughts with the press. And she definitely talked a lot of sense.
