North Pacific will become world’s top trade - OECD

A report published by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) said that the North Pacific trade will replace the North Atlantic as the world’s busiest route.

The International Transport Forum Outlook 2015 said that, in terms of freight volume per tonne-mile, the North Pacific routes will grow at double the speed of the North Atlantic.

Along with its forecast that freight will quadruple by 2050, the report also saw inter-African trade growing by 715%, while intra-Asian will only manage 403%.
