North Korea’s rocket launches have prompted Lufthansa, SWISS and SAS to change their Asia-Pacific flight routes amid growing concerns of an accidental strike. This comes after Air France’s decision to expand its no-fly zone around North Korea last month.
The move underscores the danger of miscalculation to both aircraft and vessels in the region every time Pyongyang tests its ballistic missiles.
The airlines’ flight routes now do not cross directly over the Sea of Japan and instead are closer to the Japanese archipelago when approaching Tokyo from Europe.
