COMMUNICATION AND knowledge gaps between shippers and their agents can be identified through a new tool introduced to the Eastern Cape by IQ Logix. ACT (Auditing – Consulting – Training) is a product “specifically designed to aid importers and exporters to gauge the performance and abilities of their clearing and forwarding agents,” says Arlene Oosthuizen of IQ Logix. “IQ Logix has realised the importance of time and money invested by both clients and agents and therefore designed a tool for the industry to remedy possible problem areas. “The ACT-Programme is therefore further aimed at providing in-house or possible on-the-job training to both clients and agents. Progress is monitored through the ACT auditing programme,” she says. The ACT-Programme has another auditing component aimed specifically at the clearing and forwarding agents. “This means that agents can gauge or ascertain in-house or inter-company problem areas. This specific auditing component is designed so that agents can identify specific problem areas proactively in order to remedy these before the problem escalates to such proportions where the agent could potentially lose its customers,” says Oosthuizen. IQ Logix, which has offices in Port Elizabeth, provides training and consulting to the logistics sector, with the focus on the freight forwarding and customs clearing industries, along with their supporting industries and clients. Courses offered start with a basic imports and exports programme, which is aimed at those wishing to make a career out of logistics. “The advanced imports and exports courses are aimed at those who have spent some time in the international industry, but who are ready to move up and increase their knowledge of the industry,” she says. The Imports Training Workshop is based “on an actual event and this allows for a unique method of training”. There is a growing demand for courses at all levels, she says. “The aim of IQ Logix is to provide fresh and unique training measures through expertise gained in the logistics sector over the past twenty years, inclusive of customs and excise,” says Oosthuizen. The company is a division of Acapulco Personnel. Through this association, IQ Logix is able to offer specialised logistics recruitment.
